What is Project Divided?

Project Divided brings people of different viewpoints & backgrounds to the table for difficult conversations on politics.

Our Work

Our work takes a variety of forms, including both on-line and off-line, to bring folks from all walks of life together to have meaningful conversations about some of the most pressing, and contentious, issues of our time. Continue reading below to see the different projects that we’ve launched.

The Project Divided Web series

We get it—politics can feel really overwhelming. But now, more than ever, we need to be leaning into difficult political conversations and staying engaged.

Our Web Series challenges the narrative that we shouldn’t talk about politics with people that have different views than us by providing examples of the conversations that we’ve seen at the local level—right in the town of Smithville, TX.

Community events

While our work often takes an online format, we think that the best interactions are always face-to-face.

For example, on Saturday, January 11th we hosted a Chili & Conversation Cook-Off at the Smithville Recreation Center. Not only did we have over 75 people in attendance to taste the delicious chilis, but we also had moderators at each of the tables to discuss what citizens wanted to see for the future of Smithville.

From Youth Forums to Civic Dinners, you will be able to sit in on some of these conversations through our Web Series, and (hopefully) initiate conversations in your own community as well.

Youth as problem-solvers

We believe that young people are problem solvers. Frankly because we don’t have the luxury to not take action on the pressing issues looming on the horizon.

Through Zoom interviews, blog op-eds, and social media we will be highlighting young people of all backgrounds, across the political spectrum who are making an impact in their communities.
